ASTILBE: Astilbes lend a refined grace to perennial borders. Lush deeply cut foliage is attractive for the entire season and is colored from green to bronze. Fluffy spikes on ferny foliage blooming in June and July. The flower heads last longer if they are planted to avoid the afternoon sun. A great plant for color and texture in the shade garden!
Most astilbe plumes tend towards cool pink, lavender and white shades, with a few reds sprinkled in. Warmer peachy pinks, like Peach Blossom, are recent developments and fine companions for gardens that lean towards the sunny side of the color wheel. Puffy flower heads are held tall, well above the serrated foliage.
