Queen-of-hearts is a clump-forming plant with stiff, waxy leaves that are deep green and glossy. They are upright and held on long, flexible stems that arise from a grounded plant base. The leaf blades are heart or wedge-shaped and have prominent leaf veins. Occasionally, in the warm months, the plants produce light greenish flowers. These have a curved, hooded bract (spathe) that surrounds a small, green floral column (spadex).
Grow queen-of-hearts in bright diffused light or deep shade. It requires warm, moist soils that are rich in organic matter and drain well. Avoid dry, windy sites for best performance.
